The route at a glance.
Four nights in Tokyo, two in Hakone, five in Kyoto and two in Osaka: 13 nights across 14 days. This is a planning example, not a package or a client itinerary.
| Days | Base and nights | How the time could feel |
|---|---|---|
| 1–5 | Tokyo · nights 1–4 | A gentle arrival, one focused guided visit, neighbourhood time and a few meals chosen around your tastes. |
| 5–7 | Hakone · nights 5–6 | A ryokan stay with time for the bath and meals, plus a cultural or scenic outing if conditions suit. |
| 7–12 | Kyoto · nights 7–11 | Selected temple areas, a private cultural experience if arranged, local dining and a deliberately lighter day. |
| 12–14 | Osaka · nights 12–13 | A change of atmosphere, neighbourhood food and time to prepare comfortably for departure on day 14. |
The repeated day numbers mark transfer days, not additional nights. Actual arrival and departure flights may change the route.
Why these stops work together.
Tokyo: the district matters
A hotel’s location should suit the places you plan to spend time, your room needs and the feel of the stay. Keep the arrival day flexible around the actual flight and check-in arrangements.
Hakone: stay long enough to enjoy the stay
A two-night break can leave more time at the ryokan. The actual room, private-bath arrangement, meal policy and transfer are checked before booking.
Kyoto: select, then slow down
Build visits around a few areas rather than crossing the city repeatedly. A guided period and a tea, craft or food experience can be balanced with independent time.
Osaka: finish with a different rhythm
Allow time for food and neighbourhoods, with the final hotel and airport transfer chosen around your actual departure.
A comfortable transfer day.
On each move, check hotel checkout, pickup or station access, train choice, walking, luggage and the next check-in. Rail, private transfers and luggage forwarding are options to compare, rather than fixed inclusions.
If forwarding your main luggage, keep an overnight bag and plan around the confirmed delivery schedule.
How transport and luggage are plannedBalance reserved dinners with flexible meals.
One special sushi or seasonal dining experience may be worth reserving early. Other meals can remain recommendations near your route. The right balance depends on your interests, the travel party and how much flexibility you want.
Guides, drivers, private formats and reservations are included only if specifically agreed and confirmed.
Dining and reservation coordinationAdapt the route to your interests.
Different interests may call for fewer bases, a longer ryokan stay or an alternative route. For an art-focused trip, ski plans or a return visit, start with the experiences that matter and assess the practical route around them.
Japan Journey starts at US$999 for 11–14 days. That is the planning and agreed coordination service fee per trip; accommodation, transport, meals, guides, experiences and tickets are separate. The final scope and fee are agreed in writing.
