There is no single Japan booking deadline. Keep a calendar of the suppliers that matter to your trip, using their official release time in Japan. Some release dates are fixed; others need a direct enquiry. A published release is not a promise that your preferred slot will be available.
Published release windows to check
The following official rules were checked on 11 October 2026. Use the linked supplier page again before booking. JST is Japan Standard Time, UTC+9.
| Supplier or booking route | Published window | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Ghibli Museum, Mitaka | 10:00 JST on the 10th of each month for admission in the following month. | Advance reservation is required. Follow the museum’s authorised overseas purchase routes and ticket conditions. |
| Tokyo Disney Resort park tickets | Daily at 14:00 JST for admission on the same date two months later. | If the corresponding date does not exist in the purchase month, the official page gives a first-of-next-month rule. This is the park-ticket schedule, not the hotel or Vacation Package schedule. |
| JR West online train reservations | The standard reservation window begins at 10:00 JST one month before boarding. | Check the specific train, product, covered area and collection method. Other operators or advance-request products may have different rules. |
| Restaurants using OMAKASE | Venue-specific: check the restaurant’s listing and its next release. | The platform does not establish one release day for every restaurant. Read the venue’s menu, party and cancellation conditions. |
| Japanese phone reservations | Ask the restaurant for its permitted calling times and release date. | Check whether it accepts third-party requests. A local caller cannot bypass supplier restrictions. |
A booking brief you can use
- Official supplier link and the exact experience or menu.
- Preferred date and time in Japan, plus acceptable alternatives.
- Party size, relevant children’s ages, food and mobility requirements.
- Published release date and time, or “release not yet confirmed”.
- Who is responsible for the request, approval and payment.
- Confirmation, payment status and cancellation deadline after acceptance.
Keep these statuses separate
Not booked means no reservation is secured. Requested means the request has been sent and a reply or acceptance is pending. Held means a supplier has explicitly offered a temporary hold with a deadline. Confirmed requires the supplier’s confirmation. None of these labels alone establishes that payment is complete.
If the release date has already passed
Check the authorised calendar or supplier contact route for current availability and any waitlist. Agree alternatives before paying for coordination. A sold-out date, a pending request and a date not yet released are different situations.
A few practical questions
When should I book restaurants and activities in Japan?
Use each supplier’s published release schedule. Ghibli Museum tickets are released monthly, Tokyo Disney Resort park tickets use a daily two-month window, and restaurant windows vary by venue. Check the official rules before setting a reminder; asking a coordinator does not guarantee availability.
Can you coordinate different booking deadlines?
You can ask Japan Travel Concierge by Juno to coordinate selected requests around your existing route. Booking Coordination starts at US$499 per trip; the suppliers, release checks and work included are agreed in writing. No reservation or ticket is guaranteed.
Several deadlines across one trip?
Booking Coordination starts at US$499 per trip for selected requests on your existing route. The scope and fee are agreed before work begins, and supplier costs are additional.
